UI5 application becomes unresponsive for large data sets retrieved from Gateway Service

All,

Is there a limit on the number of records to be fetched from a Gateway service and to be shown on the UI5 application.

We are have an issue where the UI5 application becomes unresponsive of the number of records fetched is to high(40K) small result sets work fine (e.g. 100 records) retrieved.
